After a few years of exploring new creative territory, I’m finding my way back to what I love most: writing music for live ensembles.
When live performances became a challenge during COVID, I started looking for new ways to stay creatively engaged. That led me to film, game, and corporate music, and along the way I picked up a whole new set of skills working in a DAW. It opened some unexpected doors and kept the music alive during a difficult stretch.
But there’s nothing quite like writing for real musicians in a room together. I have a new personal piece in progress and some exciting conversations happening. More to come soon.
If you’re a conductor or ensemble director and want to connect, I’d love to hear from you!
Wednesday, March 8th, 2017 On February 2nd, the premiere of ‘All the Things Wonderful’ took place on the Michigan State University campus. Under the direction of Professor John T. Madden the Michigan State University Symphony Band with special guest, pianist Alice Mikolajewski, they gave the incredible performance of the work that I would to share now. The work is dedicated to Dr. Benno Price Fritz and it was a great honor to work with the group and meet so many of Dr. Price’s family and friends. It was truly a magical experience I will never forget.
